Back Painted Glass and copper mosaic





This is a large mosaic piece I made using back painted window glass which was cut into small pieces and intermixed with beads. The glass has copper and blue high lights. I also used copper glitter in the grout for a shimmering effect. The bottom portion is made from sheet copper and pieces of textured architectural glass. I used a stained glass soldering technique to finish the edges.

This is a project I started when my husband was away. It took several weeks. I took window glass, back painted the glass, cut the glass into pieces and then made them into a mosaic. This wall hanging is quite different. Most of the glass is painted with shimmering auto paints and lots of glitter with does not show in the picture. Like I said I had lots of free time on my hands.
